Nationwide Children’s shows how Technology Can Enhance Family Communication, Satisfaction

Nationwide Children’s, a top 10 Best Children’s hospital according to U.S. News & World Report, shows how EASE can make a huge difference in patient care. A text message app has allowed Nationwide Children’s Hospital improve family communication and patient satisfaction scores. Ashley Hodge Associate Chief of Perfusion Services and the Cardiothoracic (CT) Surgery Quality and Safety Officer at Nationwide Children’s details the journey of trying to create a patient and family communication app and ultimately choosing to invest in EASE. Through point-of-care family satisfaction surveys, Hodge has seen satisfaction scores improve from about 80 percent to 99 percent after implementing the app. Hodge largely credits this trend to the increases in family communication.
